Carolyn A. Ives, age 86 passed away April 2, 2021 at St. John, KS.  She was born May 30, 1934 at Larned, KS, the daughter of William L. and Elsie (Carr) Smith.  A long-time resident of St. John, she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol,  house-keeping at Hearthstone, and manager of the Sandwich Shop.  She rededicated herself to the Lord and was baptized a second time with her daughter at the First Baptist Church at St. John.  

Carolyn, affectionately called Nonnie by her grandchildren, loved her family time, reading, playing the piano, listening to music, and writing poetry.  On August 24, 1952 she married Robert D Ives at Radium, KS. They enjoyed 68 years of love before he proceeded her in death December 2020.  Other survivors include two sons, Steve Ives, St. John, KS, Bradley (Donna) Ives, St. John, KS; a daughter, Kathleen (Brett) Ward, St John, KS; 8 grandchildren, Valerie (Randall) Mawhirter, Stephen (Debbie) Ives, Kirk (Holly) Ives, Tara (Chuck) Outhier, Derrick (Cliffie) Ives, Shannon (Luke) Snyder, Matthew (Challie) Ward, Nathan (Tia) Ward; 23 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by brother, William L Smith, Jr ; sisters, Florence Keenan, Marjorie Smith, Helen Fuqua. 

Graveside service will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS., with Pastor Wade Russell presiding.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 1-7 P.M., with family present from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or Kindred Hospice in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
