Darlene Stephanie Bugner

BEL AIRE — Darlene Stephanie Bugner, 89, passed away on Nov. 8, 2025, at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kan. She was born on Aug. 2, 1936, in Damar, Kan., to Simon and Alma (Brin) Davignon. On April 21, 1956, she married Eugene ‘Gene’ Bugner in Wichita, Kan. He passed on Dec. 25, 2022.

A Great Bend resident since 1968, coming from Garden City, Wichita, and Garden Plain, Darlene was a homemaker. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, and a Eucharistic Minister for 15 years. Darlene also volunteered for St. Patrick Catholic School and the church, as well as taught CCD for junior and senior high students. She was a proud godmother to three children. Darlene enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family.

Survivors include son, Bradley (Tammie) Bugner of Wichita; three daughters, Cynthia (David) Niederee of Derby, Julie (Mark) Smith of Pawnee Rock, and Jill Chambers of Great Bend; daughter-in-law, Nita Bugner of Wichita; two brothers, David (Leanna) Davignon of Damar, and Ivan (Darlene) Davignon of Rapid City, S.D.; sister, Mary Blasi of Wichita; 12 grandchildren, Ben (Catie) Niederee, Joe (Maura) Niederee, Amy (Eric) Schierling, Stephanie (Nate) White, Ashley (Grant) Louvar, Brooke (Andy) Marshall, Olivia (Cody) Lopez, Peter Smith, Alexandra (A.J.) Beasley, Hannah Sisemore, Mikel Bugner, and Sophia Chambers; and 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Curtis Bugner; son-in-law, Cory Chambers; parents; three brothers, Francis, Leo and Anthony Davignon; and sisters, Teresa Brosman, Agnes Christmann, and Wilma Cobb.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Amirtharajan Duraisamy and Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, with Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m., family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Vigil service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to the Holy Family Endowment Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
