Delma Jean “Bubbe” Miller

Delma Jean “Bubbe” Miller, 72, passed away Aug. 4, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System-Great Bend Campus. She was born on April 12, 1950, in Hays, Kan., to Delmar and Dorothy (McGhghy) Marston. She married Ronald Kent Miller on Jan. 25, 1970, at Plainville, Kan.

A resident of Great Bend since 1989, Bubbe was formerly of Homer, Alaska, Farmington and Springdale, Ark. She was an elementary school teacher at Alaska Christian School in Homer, Alaska, Shiloh Christian School in Springdale, Ark., Greenland Elementary in Greenland, Ark., Eisenhower Elementary in Great Bend, Kan., and Sunnyside Elementary in Dodge City, Kan., where she retired. She loved all children; especially her own children, her students and the strays (ones who were given love as they shared life experiences). Bubbe enjoyed playing the piano, collecting rocks and seashells on the beach, and telling her “Peter Panda” stories. Her life focus was on the things God called her to do. She loved to study the Bible and was dedicated to praying for her friends and family.

Survivors include, her husband, Ronald Miller of the home; her children, Danny Miller of Fayetteville, Ark, Tammie Fisher of Colby, Kan., Jeremy Miller and wife Lana of Plainville, Kan., Hannah Laurin and husband Jason of Great Bend, Kan., Joe Miller of Great Bend, Kan.; a sister, Monica Eaton (Denis) of Antioch, Clif.; a brother, Roger Marston (Kathy) of Cheney, Kan.; and an aunt, who is more like a sister, Donna Kay Maggary (Rick) of Broomfield, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, Zach Miller, Josh Miller, Chris Miller, Welsey Brooke Hutchinson, Cody Hutchinson, Ryan Fisher, Tyler Fisher (Beth Samora), Hayley Hatfield, MeAnna Laurin, Jason C. Laurin, Alexis Doonan (fiancé Conlan Miller), Austin Doonan, Jeremiah Laurin, and Eden Dawn Miller; numerous great grandchildren and the beloved strays. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Billy Marston.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends at 5 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N Main St., Hoisington, Kan., with Pastor Don Fisher presiding.
