Donald L. Klug, 79, died March 16, 2026, at the University of Kansas Health System, Great Bend Campus. He was born Aug. 31, 1946, in Great Bend, Kan., the oldest son of Joseph W. and Eleanor Z. (Boor) Klug. Don graduated with his master’s in accounting from Kansas State University. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Don retired as a Certified Public Accountant and partner for BKD, LLP in Springfield, Mo. Upon retirement he moved back to Great Bend where he was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Klug of Nixa, Mo.; six siblings, Janet (Mark) Lutz, Connie (Leonard) Prosser, June Klug, Mark Klug, Joseph ‘Jake’ Klug, and Nancy (Kevin) Wirth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, JoAnn Klug.
Per Don’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Holy Family Cemetery, Odin, Kan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Family Cemetery Fund in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
