HOISINGTON — Donna Mearl Marcellus, 81, died Oct. 17, 2020, at Locust Grove Village, LaCrosse, Kansas.  She was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur Joseph and Edna Lucille (Barnes) Dyer.  Donna graduated from Hoisington High School in 1957.  She later graduated from Barton Community College in 1977.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Donna was a Registered Nurse.  She worked for Clara Barton Hospital and Central Kansas Medical Center retiring in 2000.  Donna was a member of Hoisington Bible Church. Donna enjoyed spending time in her flower garden with her husband Bill, and the joy that it would bring to others as they drove by their house on Main Street.  She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On December 17, 1977, she married William Jacob “Bill” Marcellus in Hoisington.  Bill preceded her in death on November 29, 2019.

Survivors include; three daughters, Donita Donovan and husband Darrel of Hoisington, Veronica Ludwig of Olmitz, and Florina Burns and husband Daniel of Puebla, Mexico; brothers, Ernie Dyer and wife Jan of Lawrence, Ed Dyer and wife Nan of Moore, Oklahoma; sisters, Marie Johnson and husband Perry of Wellington, Colorado, Cozetta Muth and husband Steve of Ridgedale, Missouri; six grandchildren, Justin Ludwig, Shawn Ludwig and wife Hannah, Dylan Donovan and wife Andrea, Devan Hall and husband Andrew, Azrielle Burns and Avianna Burns; five great grandchildren, Aria Donovan, Greyson Donovan, Wrynleigh Donovan, and Lincoln Donovan, Molly Ludwig, and Courtney Ludwig.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Bob Ludwig, and brother, Gerald Dyer and wife Janice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m Thursday. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gary Clark presiding.  Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
