Doris M. Johansen, 103, was released from her earthly bonds in the early morning hours on Oct. 22, 2024, at Aster Estates Home Plus in Great Bend, Kan. Surrounded by loved ones, she passed peacefully with a smile on her face. She was born April 20, 1921, at the family home in Edison, Neb., to Benjamin and Inez (Slaughter) Wilsey.
Doris was united in marriage March 6, 1940, to Clarence Johansen. Together they owned and operated Cherry Village Nursing Home starting in 1978, until retiring in 2018. They were married over 60 years until his passing in 2000. Doris was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a talented seamstress and loved meeting with friends to play bridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Lewis of Great Bend, Carol Fingeret of Hastings, Neb.; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Johansen; and daughter Velma Johansen.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte, Neb. Memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
