Evan Douglas Harders, age 24 of Great Bend, Kan. and formerly of Russell, Kan., passed away at his home in Great Bend early on Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2024. Evan was born on Nov. 23, 1999 at Great Bend, Kan. and was employed at Sunflower Diversified Services Recycling Plant in Great Bend for the past three years and also helped distribute Sunflower Diversified’s mail.
He enjoyed crafts, art, cooking, and audio books (especially “Lord Of The Rings” and “Harry Potter”), and loved volunteering to help others whenever possible. Evan was very recently approved to compete in Special Olympics but sadly didn’t get the opportunity to compete. He was dearly loved and will be very much missed.
Survivors include his parents George A., Jr. and Robyn (Harders) Hall of Russell, Kan.; one brother Duncan (and Sydney) Harders of Russell, Kan.; three nieces and nephews, Anniyah, Graeson, and Tavin Harders; his maternal grandparents Ron and Nicolette Harders of Pawnee Rock, Kan.; his paternal great-grandfather William Coon of Kingman, Kan.; one uncle Chris (and Susan) Harders of Russell, Kan. and two aunts, Michele (and Bruce) Bryant of Raymond, Kan. and Jere (and Randy) Miracle of Pratt, Kan.; many cousins and great-aunts and uncles; and his beloved cat Squeaker. Evan was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Helen Coon; and great-grandparents Robert and Mildred Harders; and by his faithful service dog Clay.
According to the family’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. The family has requested that Memorial Contributions be directed to Rescue K911 at https://www.k911foundation.com, Children’s Mercy Hospital Foundation at Kansas City, Mo., or Ronald McDonald House.
