Gertrude Ellen Strutt/Peacock/Morgan

MARION — Gertrude Ellen Strutt/Peacock/Morgan, 87 years old, of Marion, Kan. passed away Jan. 14th at Parkside Homes. She was born June 4, 1938 to Theodore and Sarah (Cadoret) Strutt in Rural Osborne county Kan.

She married John William (Bill) Peacock on Feb. 13, 1956 in Stockton, Kan. He passed away in 1993. She married Howard Morgan on May 26, 1995 on a farm near Canton, Kan.

Gertrude left home to work out to help support her parents. She cared for children, did household chores and farm chores. After her marriage, she took in ironing and cared for other peoples children while raising her own.

She worked at Webster Supermarket in Stockton for 16 years, then began working in nursing homes and hospitals in Hanover, Kan. and Hoisington, Kan. After marriage to Howard, she worked at nursing homes in Hillsboro, including 10 years at Parkside Home, and a year at Shiloh Manor Canton.

She is preceeded in death by her parents; brothers Dean, Joe and Francis; and a sister Bernice; a son Kendall; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Peacock; and a sister-in-law Ada Strutt. She is survived by Howard of the home; a sister Judy (Tom) Butler of Enid, Okla.; sons Wendell (Diana) Peacock of Ada, Kan., Randall (Karan) Peacock of Great Bend, Kan.; stepdaughters Angela (Dustin) Young of Tonganoxie, Kan. and Pamela (Todd) Carley of Olathe, Kan.; and sister-in-laws Clara Strutt of Stockton, Kan. and Bonnie Strutt of Lincoln, Kan.; and seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
