DUNDEE — Henry L. Powell, age 76 years of Dundee, Kan. passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 24, 2025 at the University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus. Henry was born on May 3, 1948 at Chetopa, Kan. to Henry Clinton and Helen Rosabelle (Buisic) Powell. He had previously lived in Dodge City, Kan. and Great Bend, and while in Dodge City he worked as a Bellboy for the Lora Locke Hotel and also worked at the PepsiCola Bottling Company. After moving to Great Bend he worked at the former Golden Corral in Great Bend. Henry then moved to Dundee. Henry could be found driving his golf cart around and was known to all the neighborhood kids as he worked on and repaired their bicycles.
Henry is survived by his sister, Ruth Claphan of Dundee, Kan.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Helen Powell; Clyde and Bessie Powell who raised him, three sisters: Mary Matthews, Roseann Wesley, and Jeanne Smart; one brother Raymond Powell.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Eden Valley Cemetery (1801 NW 20th Avenue, St. John, Ks.) with Pastor Troy Miller officiating. The family has asked that memorials be directed to Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend, where Henry spent his last few months.
