Howard Eugene Bosley

Howard Eugene Bosley, 83, passed away on May 22, 2022, at Harry Hynes Inpatient Unit in Wichita, Kan. He was born on Aug. 15, 1938, to Glenn and Helen (Portenier) Bosley in Haigler, Neb. Howard married Phyllis Bantam on Aug. 24, 1958 in Orleans, Neb. She survives.

Coming from communities in Nebraska and Kansas, Howard was a Great Bend resident since the early 1970s. He graduated from Hemingford High School as valedictorian in 1956 and the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1961 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, while being a member of Sigma Tau and Phi Mu Epsilon. Howard worked as a mechanical engineer and management for Canaday Steam Plant, Northern Gas Products, and Northern Natural Gas Co., from which he retired in 1993. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend and Ellsworth where he served as an elder and deacon, lifetime member of ASME International, member of Jaycees, Rotary International, Lions Club, Lake Barton Golf Club, and a founding member of First Step Recycling. Howard was an avid golfer and Huskers football fan.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Eugene (Cindy) Bosley, Robert (Tammy) Bosley, Eric (Jennifer) Bosley; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Bree), Melanie, Chancelor, Layne, Wright, Shane, Wynn, Hope, Andrew, Grant, and William Bosley; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Smith and Mallory (Austin) Case; and four step-great-grandchildren, Emma Stroda, Kade Benedict, Carter Case, Apollo Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christina Bosley Whitley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie (Norma) Bosley.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date at the First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Kathleen Luke presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Lake Barton Golf Club, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
