Sept. 3, 1926 - Sept. 3, 2021

WICHITA — The Buehler family sadly announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jacquelin Rogers Buehler on her 95th birthday.

Jacquelin was the daughter of Elizabeth Delome Stephens and Ira Rogers. Jacquelin, the older of two children, was born and raised in Norton, Kan. The family later moved to Topeka.

Jacquelin’s father, Ira Rogers was born in Lynden, Kan. in 1889 and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in civil engineering.

Her mother, Elizabeth Delome Stephens, was born in Harrisburg, Mo. in 1894. As a child, Delome and her parents moved to Garnett, Kan. where she graduated from high school and later graduated from Baker University with a degree in Education. She taught school until age 65 and then was the librarian until age 75.

Jacquelin graduated from Topeka High School in May 1944 and attended Washburn University and later graduated from Kansas State University. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority.

Jacquelin and Bruce Buehler, from Bushton, Kan., were married on Sept. 10, 1948 and had five children who grew up and had families of their own, thus extending the Buehler clan: Belinda (Kevin Brown), Brad (Kim), Darcy (Nestor Weigand), Mitch (Myra), and Jack (Jaye). Education was important to Bruce and Jacquelin; not only was it was a source of great pride that all of their children received college degrees, but they quietly helped many others pay for their educations as well. The family lived in Great Bend, Kan. from 1951-1986 at which time with all the kids grown and out of the house, Bruce and Jacque moved to Wichita, Kan. They later settled for a few years in Sun City, Texas before returning to Wichita. Over time the Buehler clan grew to include 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Bruce and Jacque continued their involvement with Kansas State University long after their graduation. They were patrons of the KSU Gardens, the Landon Lectures, Wichita Catbackers, and Eisenhower Circle. And, of course, she and Bruce had season tickets to KSU football games for over 60 years.

Jacquelin was a wonderful mother and involved in community outreach including acting as Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, serving with PTA, and school sports for her children. She was an avid and accomplished golfer. She won numerous Great Bend Country Club and city championships. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of PEO. She was very involved in the Wichita Art Museum and was once named volunteer of the year.

A memorial has been established with: American Red Cross - Midway Kansas Chapter, 707 N. Main, Wichita, KS 67203.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Share tributes online at: www.dlwichita.com
