Judi Jean Swagerty

Judi Jean Swagerty, age 68, of Great Bend, Kan. died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. She was born July 30, 1952 in Salina, Kan. She married Steve Swagerty on Dec. 28, 

2001 in Great Bend, Kan. 

She was a Case Worker at Sunflower Diversified Services in Great Bend, Kan. for over 20 years and also worked at Walgreens in Great Bend, Kan. before retiring in 2020. Throughout her life she was devoted to helping others and was a frequent volunteer at church working with children and adults doing whatever was needed to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Her faith was her foundation and she gave tirelessly of herself, always with a smile on her face. She was a kind, generous, loving, and joy-filled person whose absence will be felt for a long time. Judi grew up in Salina, Kan. where she attended school and graduated with a degree in Education. She moved to Great Bend, Kan. where she was a resident of the area for over 30 years. Judi was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend, Kan. 

Survivors include her husband, Steve Swagerty, Great Bend, Kan.; one sister, Jane Oakley and husband, Jim of Eureka, Kan.; one brother, Jeffrey Rees and wife, Janet of Iowa; two children, Jennifer Harris of Topeka, Kan. and William Harris of Lawrence, Kan.; four step-children, Melissa Lloyd and husband, Bill of San Antonio, Texas, Megan Reed, and husband, Dan of Centerville, Ohio, Chris Swagerty and girlfriend, Sara Perreault of Great Bend, Kan., and Maranda Miner, and husband, John of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren, Claire van Wyhe, and husband Matthew, Zachary Dunavan, Halle Short, Joshua Lloyd, Jackson Reed, Grace Reed, Madeline Lloyd, Jameson Miner, and Maddox Miner. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Singleton presiding. Inurnment will follow in the Great Bend Cemetery North. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Southern Baptist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, for the Judi Swagerty Memorial Fund to help provide classroom supplies and Bibles to the children of the church.
