AUGUSTA — Julie Kathryn Hazlett, 63, passed away after a brief battle with cancer at Lakepoint Nursing Home, Augusta, Kan. on Aug. 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 21, 1962, in Larned Kan., to Vertyn C. and Ruthella “Sue” (Flick) Hazlett.
Julie moved to Great Bend with her family in 1974, where she attended school and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1981.
She moved to Kinsley, Kan. in 1986 where she married Mark Rector. They had two children and later divorced. She moved back to Great Bend in 2010 and worked for Walmart for several years.
She eventually moved to Towanda, Kan. to be closer to her daughter.
She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and her two pugs, Elvis and Tiana.
She is survived by her children, Sarah (Jeff) Miller, Hutchinson, Kan., Jordan Rector, Towanda, Kan., and Brianne (Bryan) Wilder, Towanda, Kan.; grandchildren Tyson, Paradyse, Layden, Sebastian, and Louna; stepmother, Lola Hazlett, Boliver Mo.; siblings Steve Hazlett, Lee’s Summit, Mo, Debbie (Bob) Keast, Larned, Kan., Mark (Betty) Hazlett, Great Bend, Kan., Lori
Beth (Bruce) Noland, Peculiar, Mo.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Ellis and Mabel (Bowman) Flick; and paternal grandparents, Victor and Nellie (Eaton) Hazlett, and her exhusband, Mark.
Cremation has taken place with Baker Funeral Home, Wichita, Kan., and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Great Bend, Kan.
