Maria Carmen Vazquez, age 83 years of Great Bend, Kan. passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 15, 2025 at her home in Great Bend. Maria was born on May 28, 1941 at Durango, Mexico to Jacinto and Concepcion (Guzman) Alonso and was united in marriage to Meliton Vazquez on Aug. 14, 1971 at Durango, Mexico. They moved from Lexington, Neb. to Great Bend in 1994. Maria was of the Catholic faith, and loved crossword puzzles, watching soccer on TV, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, Meliton Vazquez of Great Bend; two sons:  Horacio (and Aracely) Vazquez and Emmanuel (and Valerie) Vazquez both of Great Bend; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery Mausoleum in Great Bend, Kan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation with the funeral home in charge.
