ST. JOHN — Marjorie Jean Long, age 91, passed away on Dec. 17, 2024 at Kenwood Plaza, in St. John, Kan. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Pratt, Kan., the daughter of Harry Delbert and Orpha (Leonard) Helsel. She was a 1952 graduate of Pratt High School and was a member of the St. John Methodist Church. Marjorie was a Telephone Operator, cashier at Dillons, both in Pratt, Kan.; and a farmwife her remaining years.
On Aug. 26, 1956, she married Allen Ray Long in Pratt, Kan.
Surviving members of her family include her husband of 68 years, of the home; sons, Terry and wife Debbie, Seward, Kan., Christopher, St. John, Kan., and Douglas and wife Jana, Washington, Ill.; a daughter, Vicki, Hudson, Kan.; sister-in-laws, Joyce Rasko, Geneseo, Ill., and Judy Helsel, Pratt, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Ben, Brandon, Burke, Katy, Patrick, Shala, Kyle, Katherine, Zachary, Logan and Tiara; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Scott; brothers Richard and Marvin Helsel.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024 at 2 p.m., at Minnis Chapel 526 E. 4th, St. John, KS with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Burial to follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS.
