Mark Owen Slattery

LARNED — Mark Owen Slattery, 50, passed away June 25, 2022 at his home in Larned, Kan. He was born Feb. 25, 1972 in Bucklin, Kan., the son of James O. and Donna L. Vandehey Slattery. Moving from Protection and Dodge City he was a Larned area resident for 14 years.

He was the pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church, Larned, a member of the Pawnee County Ministerial Alliance and a lifetime member of the VFW. Mark thoroughly loved supporting all his children in all they do and singing to his grandson. He enjoyed announcing at all Larned Indian sports and was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan.

On May 25, 1996, he married Shannon Winget in Dodge City, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include his father, James (Donnetta) Slattery, Dodge City, Kan.; one daughter, Ashleigh Slattery, Manhattan, Kan.; four sons, Jeremiah (Abigail) Slattery, Larned, Kan., Ricky Slattery, Larned, Kan., Christopher Slattery, Larned, Kan. and Christian Slattery, Larned, Kan.; one brother, Tom (Bridget) Slattery, Thomas, Okla.; one sister, Lisa Statton, Grove, Okla.; and one grandchild, Nathaniel Slattery. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Slattery; and one brother, Jimmy Slattery.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Larned United Methodist Church with Pastor Ryan Webster and Pastor Greg Savage presiding. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery with Military Graveside rites.
