Martha “Ann” Rodie, 91, passed away Jan. 13, 2025, at Park Lane Nursing Home, in Scott City, Kan. She was born Jan. 9, 1934, to J.W. and Elizabeth (McMullen) Cruse in Great Bend.
Ann worked, for many years caring for patients, as a certified nurses’ aide for CKMC and St. Rose. She married Norman Herbert Rodie Feb. 5, 1950, in Otis, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006.
Ann was a long time Great Bend resident until 1980, where she moved to Russell until residing in the nursing home in 2023. She was a talented seamstress and put her fingers to work crocheting and doing needlepoint. She enjoyed the time spent with her husband fishing. They would celebrate the fruits of their labors by inviting family and friends over for fish fry’s. Ann was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend and St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.
Survivors include daughters, Diania Miller of Wichita, Sue Bennett and her husband Carroll of Larned, Lisa Lovins and her husband Walter of Scott City, Amy Keeler and her husband Scott of Great Bend; grandchildren, Shaun Grimes and his wife Jessica, Lyndsey Grimes and her partner Patrick, Christopher Martin and his wife Marissa, Stephanie Feist and her husband Jason, Krystal Cook-Pearson and her husband Mark, Brennan Cook and his wife Stacy, Adrian Noll and her husband Matt; step grandchildren, Carol Ann Smith and her husband Roy Don, LeAnn Hope, Kimberly Cummings and her husband Colby, Paden Lovins and his wife Brittany, Mason Keeler and his wife Maegan; 12 great grandchildren; 34 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Alan Ray Rodie; sisters, Donna Story, Virginia Rodie, Leah Richards; son in law Harold Miller.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home with Reverend Adam Wutka presiding. Private family burial will commence at a later date at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, with family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to St. Catherine Hospice or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, KS.
