Myrla Claire Keenan

Myrla Claire Keenan, 89, passed away May 23, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born Dec. 12, 1933, in Seward to Harry and Edna (Grow) Walter. She married Michael James Keenan Sept. 16, 1951, in Great Bend. He died June 6, 2012. 

A long time area resident, Myrla was a real estate agent for over 40 years and had earned top sales in Kansas for three years. Also having a zest for real estate, she and Mike had remodeled over 50 homes in the Great Bend area. Myrla was a member of First Christian Church and was instrumental in the development of the Great Bend Cemetery Rose Garden. She also enjoyed genealogy, ceramics and was an avid walker. 

Survivors include, two sons, Evan Keenan and wife Nicki of Houston, Texas, and Kent Keenan and wife Roxann of Great Bend; a daughter, Valerie Hardy and husband Mark of Sherman, Texas; a sister, Delora Wiles Baldwin and husband Marvin of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Cory Keenan, Megan Keenan, Morgan Wagner (Daniel), Kristin Garvin (Chris), Brooke Corbin (Greg), Austin Hardy (Sarah), Ryan Hardy (Macy), Andrew Keenan (Amber) and Adam Keenan (Sabrina); and 15 great grandchildren, Nova Keenan, Landon, Dylan and Lawson Wagner, Luke Garvin, Kiefer, Tristen and Keeli Corbin, Kenli Hardy, Aleea and Kaden Wheeler, Alison Hardy and Kyler, Aria and Ezra Keenan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael Keenan; an infant son, Glenn Michael Keenan; and two brothers, Harold Walter and Jim Walter. 

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., May 26, 2023, at First Christian Church with Pastor Josh Leu presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to First Christian Church or Clara Barton Hospital Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
