Patricia Ann “Pat” Gerstenkorn

Patricia Ann “Pat” Gerstenkorn, 95, passed away June 21, 2022, at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. She was born on Dec. 18, 1926, at Great Bend, to Arthur and Mary Ellen (Keenan) Campbell. She married LeRoy Benedict Gerstenkorn on Aug. 10, 1949, at Great Bend. He died Feb. 22, 2008.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Pat graduated from Great Bend High School. Pat would say her main job in life was raising her family of five, but she also helped her husband LeRoy build and operate their business, City Ice. She was also a teacher’s aide and librarian for St. Patrick Catholic School. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society. Pat liked to listen to country music, read and bake. She loved to cheer on the Kansas City Royals and play games, especially cards and dominos. In her younger years, she enjoyed fellowship with her friends in a bowling league and her position on the St. Patrick School Board. Pat loved holding the tradition of spending Friday and Saturday nights with her family.  

Survivors include, a son, Kevin Gerstenkorn and wife Colleen of Wichita; four daughters, Deborah Daniel and husband Mark, Sue Hemphill and husband Brad, Lisa Seiwert and husband Bernie, and Jennifer Hoskins and husband Kendall all of Great Bend; a sister, Mary Ellen Nieman of Chino Hills, Calif.; ten grandchildren, Brandon Hemphill (Erin), Matthew Daniel, Brett Hemphill (Erin), Kendra Metzger (Kyle), Tyler Gerstenkorn (Shelby Alcorn), Hannah Degenhardt (Devon), Kayla Debes (Colton), Emily Kennedy (Mark), Braden Gerstenkorn and Breann Weppler (Logan); and ten great-grandchildren, Adalyn Hemphill, Jacob Hemphill, Avery Hemphill, Emma Hemphill, Brynn Metzger, Grayson Degenhardt, Whitney Metzger, Fletcher Degenhardt, Hoyt Gerstenkorn and Patton Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy Gerstenkorn; her brother, Henry “Bud” Campbell; and six sisters, Mary Drake, Grace Schneweis, Ruth White, Katherine Campbell, Dorothy Greer and Dolores Maggiora. 

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Kindred Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
