Randolph ‘Randy’ Scott Myers, 71, passed away Sept. 15, 2025, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. He was born July 21, 1954, in Great Bend, to Dilton and Leeoda (Doughty) Myers.
Randy married Charlotte ‘Char’ Douglas April 7, 1984, in Great Bend. He worked for Great Bend Police Department from 1984 to 1991, Bushton Police Department from 1991 to 1992, and Ellsworth Police Department from 1992 to 1994. He then went to work with his brother, opening a construction business. He worked, for a time, selling cars then at local hardware stores before becoming employed with McLane. He traveled for them across the Midwest marketing merchandise for convenient stores until his retirement. Randy had a niche with technology and was a computer enthusiast. He had a brilliant mind that loved working construction and tinkering of sorts. He was very resourceful and would use his creative side to fabricate tools needed to finish any job. He had a special interest in Science Fiction, whether watching movies and tv shows or being an avid reader of the genre. Randy wanted to see his community flourish and be successful so, he selflessly served on the City Council. Randy had a great sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone’s day. He loved playing games whether it be poker, canasta, or boardgames but, he loved it even more when he won.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Charlotte ‘Char; Myers; sons, Nate Myers and his wife Bri of Hays, Travis Myers of Great Bend; sisters, Carolyn Casey of Hartford, Elizabeth Calp of Hoisington, and Elsie Darr and her husband Jeff of Topeka; grandchild, Xander Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim Myers and Donald Myers; sister, Wilma Pettijohn; and brothers-in-law, Jim Pettijohn, and Trapper Calp.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg presiding. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cremation will follow the services with a private family inurnment at a later date.
