ELLINWOOD - Robert L. “Bob” Myers, 79, died September 16, 2021, at Ellinwood District Hospital.  He was born May 1, 1942, in Belleville, Kansas.   Bob graduated from Otis High School in 1960 and later received his bachelor degree from Kansas State University.

On March 19, 1990, he married Gloria Deines in La Crosse, Kansas. 

Bob was a teacher and a coach in Bird City for many years. He also enjoyed coaching basketball and football and even taught drivers education.  Bob and Gloria moved to Ellinwood after his retirement in 2000, where he continued to substitute teach for schools in the surrounding area. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren in all their different sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Gloria Myers of the home; and two daughters, Andrea Ingram and husband Jason of Hoisington, and Amy Preister and husband Steve of Andale; nine grandchildren, TiJay Unruh of Overland Park, Aurora Ingram of Wichita, Braedon Willesden of Salina, Shawn Ingram, Emma Willesden, and Marcus Ingram, all of Hoisington, Eva and Brenna Preister of Andale, and Ben Hull of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry P. and Emma L. (Ondrack) Schlegel and a sister Doris Bakken.

Visitation will be Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Galatia, with Rev. Wayne Baldyga presiding. Family will greet friends prior to service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Galatia, at a later date.
