Rodney ‘Rod’ Bryan Furrow

ELLINWOOD — Rodney “Rod” Bryan Furrow, 65, passed away Feb. 4, 2025, in Ellinwood, Kan. He was born Sept. 15, 1959, to Dale and Shirley (Ebbers) Furrow in Sterling, Colo. Rod married Renetta Coakley Feb. 22, 1980, in Sterling, Colo. 

Rod and Renetta made Ellinwood their home in 1988, where he began working for Doonan Farms until 1991. He then worked at Barton County Feeders for 34 years until his passing. Rod was a cowboy through and through his whole life. He loved the competition of team roping. He took special interest in breeding show calves and attending cattle shows. He was a lifetime cattleman and loved the challenge of breaking horses. 

Survivors include his father, Dale Furrow of Iliff, Colo.; his beloved wife of 44 years Renetta; sons, Beau Furrow and his wife Stephanie of Windsor, Colo., Dusty Furrow and his wife Jaime of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Cooper Furrow, Kipton Furrow, Baylor Furrow, Jayce Furrow, Maci Furrow; sister, Regina Bellendir and her husband Mark of Golden, Colo.; brother, Rick Furrow and his wife Karyn of Sedgwick, Colo. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Furrow.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend with Pastor Tim Singleton presiding. Rod’s register book will be available to be signed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to Kansas Nebraska Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, KS.
