Sr. Nancy Rose Giarratano

Sr. Nancy Rose Giarratano, 77, died Jan. 18, 2026, at Villa Maria in Mulvane, Kan. She was born Dec. 28, 1949, in Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Michael V. and Lucille Sue (Chemento) Giarratano and she entered the Dominican Sisters community in 1972, professing her vows in 1975. This year marks her 50th year of religious profession.

Sr. Nancy Rose worked in the education field from 1972 – 2011. She was a teacher, a principal, a vocation director, a counselor, an EMT, and a student. She worked in Great Bend, Hoisington, Larned and Hutchinson, Kan. as well as Weatherford and Hammon, Okla., Los Angeles, Calif., and Trinidad and Pueblo, Colo. In 2011, she changed her career path to work with the poor in Pueblo, Colo., before moving to the Motherhouse in Great Bend, Kan. in 2021.

Sr. Nancy Rose is survived by her sister, Mrs. Susan Genova Humphrey (Rocky) from Pueblo, Colo.; nephews Michael Charles Genova and Grant Genova; a great niece, Charlie Jo; and two great nephews, Gage and Knox; many cousins; and the Dominican Sisters of Peace.

A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. Both will be held at the Sisters’ Convent. Burial will be in the Sisters’ Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Sr. Nancy Rose may be sent to Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219-2098.
