Susan Kay Langrehr, 77, passed away Jan. 25, 2026, at The University of Kansas, Great Bend, Kan. She was born March 7, 1948, in Phoenix, Ariz. to Virgil and Gladys (Weinbroer) Auble. She married Gene Smith Feb. 26, 1966, in Phoenix, Ariz. They divorced February 1974. She married Mervin Loyd Langrehr April 19, 1974, in Great Bend. He passed away Oct. 10, 1995. She married Dale Kness and they later divorced.

Susan graduated from Carl Hayden High School in 1966. She moved to Great Bend in 1968. She worked as an office manager for After Hours Computers from 1998 to 2005. Her love of animals placed her at Golden Belt Humane Society as an animal control officer from 2005 to 2008. She had a tenderness for all animals but, took special interest in horses, dogs, cats, and enjoyed bird watching. Susan treasured art and spent her time using coloring pencils to color in an array of coloring books.

Survivors include son, Victor Langrehr of Great Bend; daughter, Genia (Smith) Hayes and her husband Jimmy of Ellinwood; stepson Michael Langrehr of Baldwin City; stepdaughters, Tanya White of Maize, and Shari Libak of Redman, Wash.; sisters, Marti Garrison of San Diego, Calif., Joan Jones of Welsh, La., and Karen Alvillar of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Kenneth Auble of Concho, Ariz., Michael Auble; grandchildren, Jason, Cassie, Lacey, Katie, Jessamynn, Joshua, Nicole, Audrey; and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Joseph Auble, Jim Auble, Charles Auble, Thomas Auble, Steve Auble; and sister, Gladys Vowell.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Selvakumar presiding. Burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be available from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, with family receiving from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home.
