Vernon Wayne Bartlett

ST. JOHN — Vernon Wayne Bartlett, age 89, passed away in Stafford County on May 11, 2025. Vernon was born on May 8, 1936 at Stafford, Kan. the son of Andrew and Alma (Shelton) Bartlett. He was a farmer/stockman and a lifelong resident of Stafford County.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics from Kansas State University in 1957 and was a US Army Veteran.

He was a member of the K-State Alumni Association, Stafford County Farm Bureau, and the IOOF Lodge #539.

On May 5, 1962 he married Olive L. Cotton in Stafford, Kan.  They were married for 63 years.

He is survived by his wife, Olive, St. John, Kan.; two daughters, Lory (Darrell) Willinger, Stafford, Kan.; Vicky (Jon) Mansel, Manhattan, Kan.; three granddaughters, Michelle (Ryan) Erichsen, Gina Mansel, and Cheyenne (Adam) Holmes, and two great-granddaughters, Lace and Teegan Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, A.C., Cleo, and Vonnie Bartlett.

Visitation will be from 1 – 8 p.m. Thursday May 15, 2025 with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, St. John. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025 at Minnis Chapel with Pastor Carl Feril presiding. Interment will be at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, Kan. Memorial checks may be made to the KSU College of Agriculture or Stafford County EMS in care of Minnis Chapel, Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
