Balanced Cougars hold off Tonkawa, 65-60

No. 17 Barton Community College men's basketball team placed four players in double figures to edge Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa 65-60 in Saturday's Best Western Angus Inn/Cougar Booster Club Classic at Fleske Fieldhouse.

Cougars Aris Rodrigez (12), Pavel Inanov (12), Noah Williams (11) and Sebastian Muchitsch (11) scored in double figures. 

Barton (5-1) plays Dodge City at home Wednesday and play Saturday at Cloud County.

Tonkawa led 9-0 before the Cougars closed with a 32-20 edge for a 32-29 halftime lead.

Tied at 58, Batton's Pavel Ivanov and Mikey Williams scored for a 62-58 lead. to build a four-point cushion. Tonkawa drew within two, but Noah Williams converted two free throws and Muchitsch made one free throw.

Barton dominated the boards 46-28, keyed by 18 offensive boards that led to 18 points. The Cougar bench outscored the Mavericks 30-6.

Williams added eight rebounds and two steals. Muchitsch contributed seven boards. Ivanov rounded out the performances with 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Mavericks' MJ Miller and Caison Cole each scored 15 points.
