The No. 9 ranked Barton Cougar women's tennis team turned a balanced lineup into a statement victory, knocking off No. 6 Seward County 6-3 at the Shannon Schartz Tennis Courts.

Competing on their home courts in Great Bend, the Cougars used a strong showing across the middle of the singles lineup to take control after an early lead in doubles play. Barton, 8-2 overall this spring, improves its résumé with a ranked win while Seward County drops the road decision in the Top-10 matchup.

In doubles play the Cougars picked up two of the three points. Seward County grabbed the early edge at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 decision.

Barton countered at No. 2 as the duo of Grace Tchamoussa and Jamie Petrova delivered an 8-4 victory. The Cougars secured the third doubles point via default at No. 3 to carry momentum into singles play.

Barton seized that momentum quickly in singles, capturing four of the six matches with decisive straight-set performances.

No. 18 Danira Ndengoue led the charge with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2, while Tchamoussa followed with a matching 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3, with Petrova added another convincing point at No. 4, cruising 6-1, 6-1.

At the top spot, No. 16 Vitoria Campigotto battled in a tightly contested match but fell 6-3, 7-5, while Salalee Seejong dropped the No. 5 contest in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Barton closed out the scoring with Lauren Barker's default victory at No. 6 to seal the 6-3 team win.

Barton claimed four of six singles matches, with three coming in commanding straight-set fashion and none allowing more than two games in a set among those victories. The Cougars split contested doubles matches 1-1 before securing the third point by default, ultimately winning four of the seven played matches on the day. Individually, Ndengoue, Tchamoussa, and Petrova combined to drop just eight total games across six sets, providing the backbone of Barton's winning effort.

The Cougars return to action April 9 at Pratt and Cowley College at home April 14.
