Cougar women sweep Florida pair

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Barton Cougar women's basketball team celebrated coach Alan Clark's birthday with a 2-game Florida trip Saturday defeating Hillsborough College 68-64 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Alaina Eck led the Cougars with 24 points and Regina Donanu added 17 points. Hillsborough's Malayna Stevenson and Danika Ballard scored 14 points.

The Cougars led 24-13 after one quarter and 37-34 at halftime on Donau's 5-point spurt. The Cougars stretched their lead to 12 points. 

Barton plays Grayson, Texas Friday and Redlands, Okla. Saturday at home in the Cougar Booster Classic.

COUGARS 52, ST. PETERSBURG 51 — The Cougars (2-2) capped a perfect 2-0 trip in the Sunshine State following Friday's 52-51 victory over host St. Petersburg. The Cougars outscored St. Petersburg 17-10 to lead 40-39 after three quarters.

St. Petersburg's Trinidy Harris scored 18 points.
