The Great Bend Bombers baseball team had runners in scoring position in four innings against the Great Bend Bat Cats. The Bombers batted 0 for 9 against the Bat Cats pitchers to drop a hard-fought 4-0 decision.

The largest crowd of the season appreciated Community Night featuring youth recreational teams running the bases between innings.

The Bombers failed to deliver a productive out with six chances to score a run with a runner at third base.

Bombers Brady Hope and Carson Shaver hit into double plays to end the third and fifth innings. Pitcher Andrew McCarthy and shortstop Jesse Ponce turned the third-inning double play. Second baseman Joey Marker delivered the fifth-inning double play.

Bat Cat pitcher Carson Sowell retired Hope, Hunter Herrman and Tony Moore with the bases loaded and no out in the sixth inning. Sowell struck out Carson Umphres and Carson Bougher struck out Campbell Coleman and Carter Graham to strand Lane French at third base in the seventh inning.

The Bat Cats scratched out four runs against a trio of Bombers pitchers. Cooper Smith scored on Jhett Creel's first-inning single. Kyle Walker singled in Garrett Ninness in the second inning.

Isaiah Ural scored on a sixth-inning wild pitch and Ninness scored on Jesse Ponce's sacrifice fly for a 4-0 final.

Bombers catcher Owen Kaiser threw out Anthony Capobianco and Jesse Ponce in the second inning.

The Bombers (10-5) play at Parkville, Mo. July 4-7.
