Barton Cougars James Barlow, Jr. scored 22 points and Lynn Brooks, Jr. added 20 points for career highs to spark an 86-79 non-league basketball victory over Mineral Area, Mo. Saturday. 

The No. 17 ranked Cougars (11-3) carved out a 38-30 halftime lead and maintained second-half control. The Cougars converted 27 of 49 field goals for 54% and 10 of 19 shots from 3-point range for 53%.

Mineral Area's Joseph Scott scored 15 points and Marcelous Phillips and Preston Turner added 14 points apiece.

Both Barton squads return to conference action Wednesday hosting Fort Hays Tech Northwest, the women's contest tipping off at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Brooks scored 13 points in 11 minutes, dropping a trio of 3-pointers. He converted 4-of-4 from long distance. Brent Moss added 12 points. 

Aris Rodriguez and Sebastian Muchitsch each added nine points. Fontaine Williams scored seven points with four assists and four steals.

The Cardinals finished at 39%, 5-of-19 (26%) from deep, and outrebounded Barton 38-30.

The Cardinals closed within 64-62. But Parlow's up and under layup was followed by 3-pointers by Moss and Parlow to maintain a comfortable lead.
