ARKANSAS CITY — No. 5 ranked Cowley College routed defending NJCAA champion Barton Community College 95-67 in Saturday's Jayhawk Conference basketball showdown.

The Tigers (19-3, 14-2 Jayhawk) featured Dallas Whitney (16), Marcus Whitlock (16), Shamarrie Hugie (15) and Marcus Ziegler (15) and Avante Nichols (11) in double figures. The Tigers had 12 steals, Whitney and Whitlock  combined for five steals, six assists, and three blocks. 

No. 22 ranked Barton was led by Aris Rodriguez (14), Keandre Kindell (11) and Brent Moss (10) with 14 rebounds in double figures. Maddox Spray delivered closing 5-0 run and a deep three-pointer for a career high five points. The Cougars were limited to four assists.

Cowley dominated with a 10-0 first-half run and a 20-5 stretch after halftime.

The Cougars shot a season low 33% with 19 turnovers with a 67-point output 19 below their average.

Barton (17-5, 11-5 Jayhawk) entertains No. 15 Butler (16-5, 11-4 Jayhawk) Wednesday at home.
