PRATT — The Barton Community College women's basketball team completed a sweep of Pratt with a 73-50 Jayhawk Conference basketball victory.
Vivian Onugha finished with 29 points and 23 rebounds, 23 of the points and 17 rebounds coming in second half play alone, recording her 14th straight and 20th double-double of the year.
The performance also moved Onugha alone in the 3rd slot of both program single season and career rebound bests, surpassing the efforts of Taylor Regan in now trailing only Jenny Nkem Womsi and leader Inga Muciniece.
Keyona Hall played solid in the starting role knocking down 5-of-8 from the field for 13 points with Charlotte Delisle coming off the bench producing a new career high 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Brittany Simpson added eight points behind a pair of treys as Regina Donanu fought through illness contributing seven points and four rebounds.
Pratt was led by La'Kyra Johnson's 19 points followed by Kalani Brock's 11 points
Barton (12-12, 8-10 Jayhawk) has gone 18-1 against Pratt over the past 19 games. Pratt (6-17, 1-16 Jayhawk) has lost 11 consecutive games. The Cougars play Seward Wednesday and No. 5 ranked Dodge City Saturday for "Pink-Out Night" and Saturday's Hall of Fame Night.
Following the early Barton start, Pratt closed out the first quarter on a 7-0 run with an early second frame three-pointer slicing the margin to four. Pushing the lead back out on seven straight, the Cougars would take a nine point lead to the break but again the Beavers would paddle back in third period closing the gap to four again twice, the last coming with 6:11 remaining in the frame.
Having scored the first five points of the third quarter, Vivian Onugha continued her dominance adding eight more points and securing ten rebounds in the period growing Barton's lead back into double digits to lead 53-39.
A Pratt three-pointer opened up the final quarter's scoring but the Cougars responded owning the next eight minutes with a 21-3 stretch. The big run began on eight straight, Delisle's jumper tying her career high as Onugha tacked on the ensuing six points.
