WAKEENEY — Hoisington's surprising regional runner-up Claire Crutcher (17-11) and fourth-place finisher Reese Merlau (21-6) joined Larned's third-place finisher Lauren Sleder (25-6) as 3-1A state tennis qualifiers. 

Hoisington (10 points) finished runner-up behind Ellsworth (22). No. 6 seeded Crutcher upset No. 2 seed Merlau 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Ellsworth's regional champion Karli Haase (30-1) beat Crutcher 6-1, 6-1 in the championship match after beating Sleder, 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals. No. 4 seed Sleder downed Merlau 6-1, 6-2 for third place.

In the doubles finals, Ellsworth's unbeaten Inarie Rippert/Reygan Coonrod (31-0) defeated Central Plains' Ryann Metro/Grace Lamatsch (28-4), 6-3, 6-2 in the championship match. Ellsworth's Elena Jundt/Felicitia De La Cruz (27-4) defeated Ellinwood's Grace Sturtz/Mahra Johnston, Ellinwood (22-8), 6-2, 6-2 for third place.

Ellsworth beat Ellinwood 6-0, 6-0 and Central Plains downed Ellsworth 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.

GREAT BEND — Great Bend's No. 4 seeded Paige Stacey won two matches to earn a 5A state tennis berth in Saturday's Salina regional. Stacey downed Hutchinson's Rylee Miller, 6-0, 6-0 and survived a tiebreaker against Newton's Alexis Wilson, 6-3, 4-6 (11-9) to earn a state berth. Emporia's Kali Keough downed Stacey, 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals.

Stacey met Newton's Maisie Brubacher for third place.

ST. JOHN  — St. John's  Camila Sanchez/Rojas (19-4) earned a runner-up regional finish with a loss to Sterling's Cheslie Brown (32-0) at the Dodge City regional. Sanchez-Rojas won three of four matches.
