HESSTON GIRLS 58, HOISINGTON 24 — Hesston's all-state Kendall Brueggen dominated Hoisington with 26 points as the No. 1 ranked Swathers rolled to a 58-24 Central Kansas League basketball victory. The Swathers (6-0, 1-0 CKL) outscored the Cardinals 31-7 to open a 40-11 halftime lead.

Hoisington's Kelsi Maier scored eight points and converted 6-of-6 free throws to improve her 80% free throw average.

HESSTON 40, HOISINGTON 34 — Hesston battled past Hoisington 40-34 in a competitive Central Kansas League basketball victory over Hoisington Tuesday. Hesston's Reed Friesen scored 14 points and Asher Deutschendorf added 10 points in the ballgame dominated by superb defense.

Hoisington's Mason Martin scored 12 points and Jason Robinson added 11 points.

CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 55, STERLING 27 — Central Plains freshman sensation Aevyn Siemsen converted six 3-pointers and scored a career high 22 points as the Oilers powered past Sterling 55-27 in Tuesday's non-league basketball game. Oiler Marilyn Soeken scored 18 points.

The Oilers (7-1) made eight 3-pointers to outscore Sterling 24-3 from long range. 

Sterling (0-8) was led by Chloe Garrett with eight points.

STERLING 64, CENTRAL PLAINS 38 — Red-hot Blake Smith scored 21 points and Boston Ekart capped a 19-point night with a slam dunk as No. 2A Sterling raced past Central Plains 64-38 in Tuesday's non-league basketball game. Sterling (6-2) outscored the Oilers 34-15 in the second half.

Brodie Crites led the Oilers with 21 points and Aiden Hekele added nine points.

ST. JOHN GIRLS 49, ELLINWOOD 37 — St. John's 6-foot-2 Lydia Reed dominated inside with 18 points to lead the defending Central Prairie League champions past No. 7 ranked 2A Ellinwood 49-37 in Tuesday's basketball game. Mia Meyer added 12 points for No. 7 ranked 1A St. John (7-2, 3-0 CPL).

Brynn Widener and Bennett Jacobs each scored 11 points, but leading scorer Reese Stickney was limited to eight points by superb St. John defense. The Tigers showcased their experience and defensive pressure, securing a 49-37 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday night.

Ellinwood’s offense struggled to find rhythm under St. John’s defensive effort. Despite the loss, Eagles head coach Greg Maxwell found positives in his team’s performance.

“I was pleased with the effort to compete with a team like St. John,” said Maxwell. “We had some difficulty with their pressure and basketball experience, but it was good for us to play in a game like that. We will grow from the opportunity.”

The Eagles face Macksville Friday.

Ellinwood's Landon Simpson scored 28 points and Drake Hosman added 20 points. The Eagles converted nine 3-pointers to outscore the Tigers 27-3 from long range.

Emmett Delp led the Tigers with 18 points and Braxton Alpers added 10 points.
