HAVEN GIRLS 54, HOISINGTON 42 — Hoisington trailed 11-0, but made No. 10 state-ranked Haven work for a 54-42 Central Kansas League basketball victory over the Cardinals. Hoisington's Kelsi Maier and Marley Bittel each scored 10 points.

The Cardinals (5-11, 0-4 CKL) will seek to snap a winless league season against Nickerson (1-16, 0-4 CKL) Friday for Winter Homecoming.

Haven's powerhouse tandem dominated inside. Avery Brawner scored 22 points and Sienna DeFrain added 20 points.

HAVEN 49, HOISINGTON 27 — Hoisington's Mason Martin scored 15 points in a brilliant offensive night as Central Kansas League leader Haven pulled away for a 49-27 victory over the Cardinals.

The Cardinals (8-8, 1-3 CKL) will welcome Nickerson (2-15, 0-5) for Winter Homecoming Friday. Nickerson has lost 68-66 to Kingman and 61-59 to Halstead the past two nights.

No. 2 state-ranked 3A Haven (15-1, 5-0 CKL) was paced by Jacob Borntrager with 19 points and super point guard Nash Wray added 12 points.

ST. JOHN GIRLS 68, OTIS-BISON 27 — St. John's Lily Brummer (15), Reagan Bonner (14), Mia Meyer (12), Jalyn Fisher (11), Lydia Reed (10) scored in double figures to power the Tigers past Otis-Bison 68-27 in Tuesday's Central Prairie League basketball game. The Tigers used pressure defense to fuel a fast-paced offense.

Defending Central Prairie League champion St. John (12-5, 6-1 CPL) takes a half-game lead over Central Plains (13-3, 5-1 CPL) and Ellinwood (14-2, 5-1 CPL)

Otis-Bison's Allie Smith scored nine points and Destiny Mitchell added eight points.

OTIS-BISON 45, ST. JOHN 41 — Otis-Bison's Kelson Juno and Louis McVey each scored 13 points as the Cougars surprised Central Prairie League co-leader St. John 45-41 Tuesday. The Cougars (7-10, 3-3) outscored the Tigers 13-8 in the fourth quarter. The Cougars made five 3-pointers for a 15-6 scoring edge.

St. John standout Emmett Delp scored 19 points, but converted 5 of 12 free throws. The Tigers (12-6, 5-2 CPL) drop behind Central Plains (13-4, 5-1) and

Victoria (9-6, 5-1) in the Central Prairie League standings. The Tigers converted 13 of 25 free throws.

MACKSVILLE 66, KINSLEY 43 — Macksville sparkplug Diego Esparza contributed 27 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists in a 66-43 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Kinsley.

Kendall Grippin enjoyed a perfect 4-of-4 shooting game with 2-2 free throws for 13 points. Hector Gomez added 11 points. Nolan Adams blocked three shots.

MACKSVILLE GIRLS 46, KINSLEY 28 — Macksville's Isabela Ortiz scored 17 points with three steals and three assists in a 46-28 victory over Kinsley in Tuesday's Central Prairie League basketball game. 

Laney Butler contributed 11 points and six steals for Macksville (8-9, 4-3 CPL). Ava Chadd had six steals. Daniela Reyes grabbed nine rebounds with four steals. Heidy Ortiz had three steals. Kinsley dropped to 3-13, 1-4 CPL.

PAWNEE HEIGHTS GIRLS 44, DEERFIELD 30 — The Pawnee Heights girls (4-14) stayed hot with a 44-30 non-league basketball victory over Deerfield (4-14) Tuesday.

DEERFIELD 50, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 36 — Deerfield's boys (8-10) kept the Pawnee Heights boys winless with a 36-30 non-league basketball victory. There's hope because the Tigers (0-17) play at Chase (1-17) Feb. 18.

Deerfield's Cristian Botello scored 15 points and Colten Musil added 11 points. The Spartans converted 19 of 41 field goals.
