PRATT 8, HOISINGTON 6

HOISINGTON – Hoisington’s softball team dug an 8-0 deficit and ended up losing 8-6 to Pratt, leaving the tying runner on base when Tuesday’s Central Kansas League opener ended. Hoisington (1-2, 1-2 CKL) led 2-1 when the second game was postponed by thunderstorms.

PRATT 8, HOISINGTON 6 (G1) – Pratt pitcher Kami Theis stranded Kortney Lang and Jordyn Boxberger when she recorded the game’s final out.

Pratt (4-1, 3-0 CKL) roared ahead 8-0 when the Cardinals committed costly errors that handed the Greenbacks seven unearned runs.

Pratt’s Kami Theis scored on an error. Lexi Walker doubled home Payton Woody and Walker stole home for a 3-0 lead. Back-to-back errors led to a five-run second inning. Gabby Gatlin and Woody scored on errors. Erin Jackson scored on a bunt single. Livia Swift’s single scored Walker and Brooklynn Humble.

Hoisington’s Kadence Urban drilled a third-inning three-run homer to score Mollie Steiner and Gracie Aylward. Boxberger’s single scored Shaylah Kempke.

Steiner scored on a fourth-inning error. Kassidy Nixon singled home Keeley Wolf. But Pratt tagged out Aylward at home to preserve an 8-6 lead.

HOISINGTON 2, PRATT 1 (G2, suspended) – Kadence Urban homered for the second consecutive game as the Cardinals led 2-1 after three innings. Play was stopped when thunderstorms rolled through.
