BELOIT — Hoisington Cardinal Brier Thompson excelled with four gold medals — in the 100 meters (10.95), 200 meters (22.77), 300-meter hurdles (41.9) and the 400-meter relay (43.62) with Courtney Bryant, Mason Martin and Jason Robinson.
"Brier Thompson bringing home four gold medals was a first for a Cardinal boy at Beloit," said Hoisington coach Dan Schmidt. "Brier is one of the top athletes in 3A. His 400 meters and 110 meter hurdles are also good enough to qualify to the KSHSAA state meet."
Robinson won the long jump (20-71/2) and Taylen Morales won the pole vault with a season best (13-6). Layton Hoffman placed runner-up in the discus (147-6).
The Cardinal boys (64) placed fifth.
"The Hoisington boys and girls track teams had outstanding results at the Beloit Relays," Schmidt said. "The Beloit meet is one of the top meets in the western part of the state. Top performances were accomplished at the meet."
Hoisington's Marley Bittel won the 200 meters (25.80) and 400 meters (59.7) and placed runner-up in the 100 meters (12.66) at Friday's Beloit Track Invitational. Bittel finished as 3A state 100-meter runner-up last year.
The Cardinals placed runner-up in the 400-meter relay (*51.5) with Reese Merlau, Kinley Wilkens, Addison Hanzlick and Bittel.
