DODGE CITY — Regional runner-up Hoisington (17) qualified singles champion Jasper Pawloski (21-5), third-place finisher Brody Rossman (23-1) and doubles fifth-place finisher Gabriel Pawlowski/Leyton Mooney (12-8) and sixth-place finisher Kian DeLong/Alexander Mooney for Topeka's 3-1A state tennis tournament.

"It feels good qualifying the entire team for the state tournament," said Hoisington tennis coach Jordan Mooney. "It’s been three years to qualify for the state tourney and four years since we’ve been able to qualify everyone. The guys worked really hard. They played some of their best tennis at regionals."

Jasper Pawlowski defeated Meade's Samuel Lynn 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) for the regional championship. Rossman downed Phillipsburg's Nathan Fischer 6-3, 6-3 for third place.

"Jasper played really good tennis," Mooney said. "His final match was his toughest one. He was able to secure the win in a second set tiebreaker. He's improved a lot since the beginning of the season. I'm proud of the work he's put in."

Gabriel Pawlowski/Leyton Mooney defeated teammates DeLong/Alexander Mooney, 6-1, 6-3 for fifth place.

The Pawlowski brothers and Alexander Mooney are freshmen, Rossman and Leyton Mooney are sophomores and DeLong is a junior.

"The growth from the first tournament to now has been extraordinary to watch," Mooney said. "Qualifying all of the guys for state was the ultimate goal when we started. Obviously, that goal has shifted. We want to get some wins at the state tournament. We're a very young team. The guys gave it their all at regionals, and that hard work paid off."
