HOISINGTON GIRLS 54, SMOKY VALLEY 50 — Hoisington's Kelsi Maier scored eight fourth-quarter points and Ellie Crawford passed to Tianna Lutters for a 3-pointer for a hard-fought 54-50 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Smoky Valley Monday.
Crawford scored 17 points, Maier 14 and Kinley Wilkens added eight points as the Cardinals' inside players combined for 39 points. The Cardinals (4-3, 1-0 CKL) led 35-20, but the Vikings outscored them 30-19 to challenge.
"We got good scoring from our post players, which is a huge boost," said Hoisington coach Trina Lutters. "Ellie Crawford had a big night. I told the girls we were winning no matter what."
Smoky Valley's Elsie Boughfman scored 17 points and Katja Blanchat added 16 points.

HOISINGTON 56, SMOKY VALLEY 33 —Hoisington outscored the Vikings 31-7 after trailing 26-25 to earn a 56-33 Central Kansas League basketball victory over winless Smoky Valley.
Cardinal Mason Martin converted seven consecutive field goals and 13 fourth-quarter points for a 22-point night to spark an 18-2 final period.
Rhen Galla scored 11 points and Jason Robinson added 10 points. The Cardinals' pressure defense fueled a transition game by forcing 30 Viking turnovers. Smoky Valley's Ty Heitschmidt scored 12 points and Marik Anderson added nine points.
"We got some transition baskets and scored some easy ones which got us on a roll," said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. "Mason Martin got on a roll that fourth quarter. Jason Robinson was in an attack mode tonight."
