HOISINGTON — Hoisington Cardinal runner Brier Thompson has signed a scholarship offer to compete in track at Dodge City Community College.

Thompson was an outstanding sprinter and hurdler for the Hoisington Cardinals during his career.

He was a state medalist in the 100, 400, and a member on the 400-meter relay during his career.

Thompson placed fifth  in the Class 3A 100 meters (11.07); eighth in the 200 (22.61) with a prelim time of 22.45; and ninth in the 400-meter relay (44.97) with Courtney Bryant, Mason Martin and Jason Robinson.

Thompson placed runner-up in the 200 (22.38) and third in the 400-meter relay (43.67) with Bryant, Martin and Robinson.

"Dodge City is getting an outstanding athlete in Brier," said Hoisington coach Dan Schmidt. "His skills are outstanding. I look forward to what he will accomplish in his future. Dodge City wants him as a sprinter, but looks to also develop him as a multiple events athlete."
