Daxton Minton sparks Great Bend Bombers

The Great Bend Bombers 16-and-under baseball team (11-7-2) shut out Lawrence Free State 8-0 in Thursday’s opening game.

BOMBERS 8, FREE STATE 0 – Pitcher Daxton Minton (1-1) held Free State to two hits and struck out two batters. Ian Premer, Trenton Kern and Graham each drove in two runs.

Lane French scored on a first-inning passed ball and a sixth-inning wild pitch. Cooper Johnson scored on Premer’s groundout. Carter Graham singled home J.J. Grove and Hunter Herrman in a 3-run fourth inning.

In a 3-run fifth inning, Kern singled home Carson Umphres. Kern scored on Grove’s sacrifice fly. Minton scored on Premer’s single.
