ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood left-hander pitcher Cohen Gunn missed a perfect game with a walk to Aiden Becker.
Gunn was dominant with 16 strikeouts in a 6-inning no hitter that sparked a 10-0 victory over Pratt Skyline. Ellinwood (3-3) won Thursday's opener 15-5.
ELLINWOOD 10, SKYLINE 0 (G2) — Gunn was spectacular with 55 strikes in 73 pitches, a rare 75% strike ratio. Gunn's final 12 outs were strikeouts.
Ellinwood's Drake Hosman ripped a leadoff home run. Gunn, Trace Tudor, Shea Hoskins and Cade Coleman drove in runs.
Coleman scored on a second-inning error. Hoskins' bunted Tudor home in a 3-run third. Hoskins scored on a groundout and Caleb Herrman scored on a balk for a 5-0 lead.
Hosman scored on Gunn's fourth-inning single and Gunn scored on Tudor's double. Banks Jacobs scored on a Hoskins single to start a 3-run sixth inning. Coleman and Herrman scored on errors.
ELLINWOOD 15, SKYLINE 5 (G1) — Hosman (1-0) struck out 11 batters to earn the victory.
Jacobs hit a 2-run double and drove in three runs. Bryce Williams hit a 2-run single and drove home three runs. Tudor ripped a 2-run homer. Gunn and Coleman each drove in two runs. Hoskins drove home one run.
