Eagles' Hosman saves the day

ELLINWOOD 50, RUSSELL 38 — On a night when Ellinwood struggled shooting, Drake Hosman came to the rescue with back-to-back baskets that sparked a 50-38 non-league basketball victory over Russell. Coach Jaron Lane's Ellinwood Eagles are 11-11 after starting the season 0-6.

Ellinwood led 33-32 when Hosman hit a 3-pointer and 2-pointer followed by Layton Wirtz's 3-pointer for a 41-32 lead. Hosman finished with 18 points and Wirtz chipped in 14 points.

Russell's Jake Mooney scored 14 points.
