ELLINWOOD GIRLS 49, ELLIS 40 — Ellinwood's hot-shooting Brynn Widener scored a career high 18 points with four 3-pointers to spark the Eagles past Ellis 49-40 in Friday's non-league basketball game. The Eagles (6-0) converted six 3-pointers to outscore Ellis 18-0. Reese Stickney added 10 points.

Natalee North led Ellis (3-3) with 16 points.

Ellinwood basketball coach Greg Maxwell said the girls have demonstrated hard work, confidence, and versatility.

“They've worked hard in the past few years to put themselves in this position," Maxwell said. "They've played well to win against the teams they have played so far. They know there's a lot of basketball to be played against some great teams."

The Eagles are a young and talented group which has showcased several players stepping up to contribute. The team’s depth and ability to adapt have been major factors in their success.

“These girls are young and learning but confident,” Maxwell said. “There are different girls contributing in multiple ways, which is fun to see. They'll enjoy their holiday break unbeaten at this point."
