LA CROSSE 42, ELLINWOOD 40 — La Crosse's Hooper Castaneda delivered the game-winning 3-pointer on Lee Holopirek's assist for a thrilling 42-40 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Ellinwood. The Leopards outscored the Eagles 18-6 on 3-pointers.

Ellinwood's Cade Coleman converted a pair of free throws for a 40-39 lead with 28 seconds in regulation.

The Eagles' Drake Hosman, the leading scorer with 18 points, missed a chance for overtime when he missed his first free throw of two chances with three seconds left.

Ellinwood's Brynn Widener scored 14 point and Mette Maxwell added 11 points. The Eagles (1-0) converted six 3-pointers.

La Crosse's Madison Morgan scored six points.
