LARNED – Haven's boys proved to be rude guests on Senior Night as the Wildcats rolled past Larned 54-24 in Tuesday's Central Kansas League game.

HAVEN 54, LARNED 25 — Haven's Cole Brawner (14), Logan Jacques (11) and Brogan Wray (10) scored in double figures as the Wildcats rolled past Larned 54-25 in Tuesday's Central Kansas League basketball game.

Larned, without their 6’7” center, Kylier Greene, struggled to score against the quick and aggressive Haven defense. Haven forced 21 Larned turnovers and outscored Larned 18-8 in the second quarter and 21-6 in the third quarter to outdistance the Indians.

Haven led 25-12 at halftime but really hit their stride offensively in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Larned made only 1 of 10 shots as they fell behind 46-18 at the third quarter mark.

Larned coach Luke Steinlage said, “We couldn’t run anything. When we did, we missed the shots. Our ball handling led to too many turnovers and that led to some easy baskets for Haven. We are struggling for someone to step up offensively.”

Haven, starting a number of underclassmen, had a strong defensive game and outrebounded Larned 27-16. The Wildcats made 19 of 48 field goals for 40% and converted 10 of 15 free throws. They placed three players in double figures with Cole Brawner scoring 14, Logan Jacques 11 and Brogan Wray 10. Devin Bolce added 9, Zade Turner 6 and Wyatt Bontrager 4 as the Wildcats evened their season record at 11-11. 

Larned struggled with their shooting all evening as they made just 12 of 33 field goal attempts for 36%. It was even worse from the free throw line as they went scoreless, 0 of 6. It was the fourth straight game the Indians have scored fewer than thirty points in a game.

Grady Pinkston led Larned with 8 and Luke Krehbiel added 6 points while Tristan Regan added 4 and 9 rebounds, Andres Martinez 4 and Javon Topps 2.

With the loss Larned drops to 6-15 for the season and will travel to Hoisington Friday for a Central Kansas League game.

Larned's Grady Pinkston scored nine points.
