HILLSBORO – Hillsboro quarterback Zayne Haslett completed passes of 39, 31 and 41 yards as the Trojans rolled past Larned 35-0 in Friday's Central Kansas League football showdown.

Haslett completed 10 of 19 passes for 176 yards with 72 yards rushing. Jesiah Gooch tallied 102 yards rushing and Jaeten Loewen added 44. Larned totaled 118 yards offense. Three interceptions blunted its offensive attack, as did the aggressive Hillsboro defense. Tristan Regan had two catches and Zev Cox and Koby Lang one as Mason Miller completed 4 of 13 passes.

The Trojans Jesiah Gooch, a 210-pound back, blasted up the middle for an 11-yard score. Talon Regier's 39-yard reception from Haslett set up the score. Hillsboro's interception Haslett was followed by Braxton Hiebert's 41-yard reception reception for a 14-0 lead.

Larned’s offense was stymied by Hillsboro's quickness. Following a Larned punt, the Trojans keyed the running of Haslett and Gooch, capped by Gooch's 18-yard touchdown for a 20-0 lead.

Haslett's interception was capped by Haslett's 1-yard touchdown and a 28-0 lead.

Larned's drive before halftime stalled. Gooch broke a 60-yard touchdown with 18 seconds left for a 35-0 halftime lead.

The second half was played with a running clock. Neither team put together a consistent drive. Larned’s offense was hampered by a first-half injury to quarterback Mason Miller. Miller gamely remained in the game with limited running ability.

Hillsboro (1-1) travels to Hesston (1-1) and Larned (0-2) plays Pratt (1-1) at home Friday.
