Indians sink Vikings in twin bill
LARNED — Larned's Ian Gilliland singled home Easton Fox with the game-winning run to boost the Indians to a baseball sweep 2-1 and 10-2 over Smoky Valley. The Indians (4-6, 3-3 CKL) travel to Haven (8-2, 6-2 CKL) Thursday.
INDIANS 2, VIKINGS 1 (G1) — Viking starter Ty Heitschmidt departed after nine strikeouts after hitting the 105-pitch count. Heitschmidt walked Fox and Anthony Gonzalez to start the seventh inning.
Viking reliever Kaleb Burgardt yielded a wild pitch and the game-winning single to Gilliland for the walk-off victory.
Heitschmidt doubled home Jack Opat in the first inning.
Larned squared the score 1-1 when Deacon Martin's third-inning single scored Carson Shaver.
Tristan Regan (1-0) earned the victory with 31/3 shutout innings.
INDIANS 12, VIKINGS 3 (G2) — Larned's Anthony Gonzales homered, doubled and drove home three runs to spark a 13-hit attack. The Indians overcame nine walks with four pitchers contributing.
The Indians scored four runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Also driving home runs were Regan, Reese Morgan, Mason Miller, Corbyn Nance and Fox.
Burgardt and Jack Opat drove in runs for the Vikings (1-7, 1-7 CKL).
