LARNED – Larned's girls jumped out 16-7 and were never threatened in a 50-26 basketball victory over Haven in a Central Kansas League game on Senior Night.

Larned Indian Jadyn Crosby scored 19 points, 13 after halftime, with 12 rebounds. Lauren Sleder added 17 points. Larned's girls (16-6, 4-2 CKL) move into third place heading to Hoisington Friday.

Larned made 15 of 39 field goal attempts (39%) and converted 14 of 23 free throws. Brooke Simmons and Sleder delivered strong defensive games to blunt the Haven offense.

“I'm pleased with our defensive effort. Anytime you hold Haven to 26 points, you’ve done a heck of a job," said Larned coach Jerrod Smith. "We played without point guard, Taeten Reynolds, but everyone picked it up. Addison Townsend-Steffen really came in off the bench and helped us. This was a really good win.”

Haven's Avery Brawner scored 15 points. Haven (15-6, 4-3 CKL) made 9 of 37 field goals (24%).

Larned forced 12 first-half turnovers to extend the lead to 22-10 at halftime. Haven made 4 of 17 first-half field goals and ended with 22 turnovers.

Sleder scored 10 first-quarter points.

Larned led 33-16 after three quarters.  After Haven cut Larned's lead to 12 points, Crosby scored five points. The Indians led by 20 points the rest of the way.
