Larned Indian pitcher Brady Hope throws a strike.

RUSSELL — Larned's Legion baseball team split a twin bill against Russell, winning 9-8 and losing 6-1 Monday. Larned (4-7) plays Dodge City Thursday.

LARNED 9, RUSSELL 8 (G1) — Larned's Brady Hope stranded the tying runner at third base on a groundout to third baseman Corbyn Nance to end the game.

Hope doubled in Carson Shaver and Tristan Regan in the first-inning. Cayden Shaver's single scored Hope. Mason Miller was forced home on Carson Shaver's second inning hit-by-pitch.  

Andres Martinez and Miller scored on a third inning error. Hunter Hobbs scored on Carson Shaver's single for a 7-4 lead. Hope tripled and scored on a fourth-inning error. Shane Sundahl scored on Camden Bird's sacrifice fly.

Russell's Kyle Huser drove in two runs. 

RUSSELL 6, LARNED 1 (G2) — Russell's Sam Thielen struck out five Larned batters in a 5-inning outing.

Larned's Carson Shaver scored on a fifth-inning passed ball.
